ADHDRoadmap.com does an endrun around Pharma TV Commercial law

September 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment

There is a commercial going around from ADHDroadmap.com that looks to be an information public service announcement but is actually an advertisement from the makers of Adderall. I find this incredibly misleading and probably a violation of the television pharmaceutical advertising laws which require a description of the potential side effects. This advertisement contains no information about side effects.

This advertisement should be pulled from the air and SHIRE should be severely fined.

More info….

AdhdRoadmap.com
Owned by Shire Inc, the manufacturers of Adderall. The website primarily asks for your contact information so that they can send you a packet of information. Most likely more Shire Inc. advertisements under the guise of an alternative treatment.

Adderall is a pharmaceutical psychostimulant composed of mixed amphetamine salts. The drug is used primarily to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy. Adderall has also been used successfully to manage severe cases of treatment-resistant depression. It is a Schedule II controlled substance, meaning that it has been deemed to have a high potential for abuse and addiction, but has accepted medical uses.
